Automation is defined as (according to Merriam-Webster) as "the technique of making an apparatus, a process, or a system operate automatically."
ISS offers automation in two forms primarily: mechanical/electronic processes that can be intelligently controlled by computers. The other form is software automations, but that only pertains to IoT and IIoT devices made here. As we continue to live and grow in a complex environment it's important to make things more and more automatic. This decreases the complexity, makes our task easier, and allows us to focus on higher priority objectives.
